LOCAL band ‘Souled As Seen’ was sweet music to the defeated Manchester United squad when they played at the after-match party in Rome last week.

Fronted by father and daughter, Larry and Lareena Edwards, best known for running family business Fudge Village in Whitworth, the band were booked to play on the rooftop of the Exedera Hotel.

Although it didn’t turn out to be quite the celebration party the players had hoped for, Souled As Seen still ensured they had a good time.

Larry, who runs the fudge business and specialist retail outlet with wife Jean, son Nicholas and Lareena – the front singer in the band – said that, eventually, everybody got in the party mood.

Around 400 people, including all the United stars and their families, were there. Just a few days later the nine-strong band, which specialises in soul, Motown and disco music, were entertaining some of the players again.

Larry said: "We played at a Ryan Giggs and Max Beasley charity do in Birmingham. It was attended by loads of people, including Ray Winstone and Suranne Jones – it was like who’s who.

"But we’ve played at lots of Manchester United events, including Sir Alex Ferguson’s testimonal night and the milennium party."

But the party’s over for now for Larry and Lareena and it’s back to ‘showtime’ in Whitworth, where business couldn’t be better.
