WHEN the 32nd Rochdale guides decided to take up the ‘Help the Hospices Challenge’ they decided it should be Springhill Hospice which should benefit from their efforts.

Their first event is a coffee morning at Thrum Hall Methodist Church on Saturday 28 February and everyone is welcome.

Guide leader Leanne Kowalczuk said: “The challenge is part of the Girl Guides Changing the World Project.

“Springhill Hospice fund-raising manager Ian Jenkins came to talk to the guides about the hospice’s excellent work and we decided to help by holding a number of fund-raising events throughout the year.”

The coffee morning runs from 10.30am to noon. Refreshments will include homemade cakes.
