GENEROUS regulars at a High Crompton pub turned their new year celebrations into a chance to raise money for the Observer’s Hospice appeal.

Staff and customers at the Colliers Return in Rochdale Road chipped in to raise £200 for the hospice during their new year’s eve party.

Others donated prizes which were raffled off to help boost the total.

Heather Bickerton, the temporary manager of the pub, has pledged to do anything she can to help the hospice during her time at the helm of the business. She has offered to allow hospice fund-raisers the use of the pub during the day to host craft fairs, coffee mornings or any other similar activities to raise money.

Heather said: "We had to make a decision about who to help and everyone thought of the hospice.  We want to do anything we can to help.  This was all down to the customers, I couldn’t have done it without them."
