Drunken thugs in brutal attack

by Alice McKeegan
23/ 9/2008

A COUNCIL worker who helps disadvantaged young people was brutally attacked by a gang of drunken yobs as he walked home from work.

The victim was confronted by six men in their early 20s as he walked near Falinge flats, off Spotland Road, at 4.30pm on Thursday.

He was repeatedly punched during his two-minute ordeal and was left with serious facial injuries.

The victim, who asked to remain anonymous, told the Observer that although his physical injuries will heal, the psychological impact of the assault will remain with him for the rest of his life.

He said: "I saw these young men in the road and could tell that they were intoxicated with alcohol or drugs.  I carried on walking, but they came at me and started punching me. They didn’t say anything to me or steal anything, which makes it even harder to understand. I think they were just on the rampage to get their next adrenalin rush and they came across me."

He is still struggling to understand why he was attacked, but thinks that it was just another example of the culture of ‘mindless violence’ affecting our communities.

He added: "I was extremely shocked because I work on Falinge and try to help these people. The problem is that anti-social behaviour orders are like trophies or medals and that is the kind of mentality that these people have. There needs to be a larger alcohol-free zone in Rochdale to stop people drinking and congregating on the streets."

He hopes that other victims will report their attacks to the police and urged anyone with information about the incident to come forward. The offenders are described as white, in their late teens or early 20s. They wore dark tracksuits.

‘Street pastors’!!! Am I hearing flower bud right?? ‘Sweet baby Jesus and the orphans’ I tell you this I know if we had more police officer on the street and decent crown prosecutions service it would make a lot of difference. This horrid town is finished the country is finished and thanks to attitudes of the likes of ‘Flower Buds’ who sit preaching the way forward the country is finished too. Those who beat this chap up, for nothing have no flower bud love in them but a hatred for humanity Bourne out of being brought up by the likes of other flower buds believing that only things like divine intervention can heal this broken Britain of ours. Every day, every day, I see the consequences those generations of do gooder's. In schools, in homes and on the streets there are no consequences anymore. Let me be clear, the law has kidnapped justice and the likes of flower bud have allowed this to happen to such an extent we can not bring them back. The only people able to clean the streets are all us by saying this lunacy has to stop. The economic system has yielded to greed and yet we are pumping millions of pounds to support it. Our society yielded to scumbags years ago yet we put flower buds in control. It may astonish you but today we have more ‘support workers and other carers than police officers’ and the CPS that the crown prosecution service is a total waste of space having consistently failed victims. Oh a little fact for you, these scumbags who killed the poor girl because she was a ‘goth’ had a street pastor and she still visits these criminals in prison. Listen, dear flower bud, I will take you out on day’s work with me sometime, trust me, you won’t be preaching street pastors by the end of the day but, “Bring back the birch”!!
