A fantastic amount

MORE than £13,000 has now been raised for the Can You Spare A Minute? appeal for Springhill Hospice – and there’s more on the way.
The sum of £11,600 has been handed over to the Observer editorial office or to Springhill Hospice, plus another £1,235 has been donated through the just giving charity website – the latter attracting a further £242 in gift aid.
But the £13,000 total does not include donations given over the past week or so and another £2,000 should be rubber-stamped by the hospice’s accounting office over the next week. A further £7,500 from Andrew Nutter’s Maze Ball is also in the pipeline, as the money pledged on the night is still coming in.
Which all takes us up to £22,500 – a fantastic amount in little over three months!
With other events coming up, not forgetting the launch of Observer bear Robbie – plus a surprise event which will be announced later in the year – we are optimistic our fund-raising plans to refurbish in-patient areas at the hospice will reach their goal.
Next week, the names of the latest donors to back our appeal will feature in our ‘roll of honour’.
