Cyclist is on the mend

8/ 8/2008

A TEENAGE cyclist who fell off his bike into the path of a car was due to be discharged from hospital on Thursday afternoon.

The 15-year-old boy was riding his BMX along Oldham Road when he came into the path of a Vauxhall Astra at 6.20pm on Monday.

It was at first thought that the boy had suffered a suspected broken jaw. But it was later discovered that he had broken two teeth.

He was taken to the Royal Oldham Hospital before being transferred to the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital and later the Rochdale Infirmary. The driver of the car was not injured.

Oldham Road was closed to traffic following the accident at the junctions with Balderstone Road and Broad Lane.
