Appeal total keeps on moving up

WITH more than £11,000 in our appeal funds we’re well on the way to achieving our aim of refurbishing in-patient accommodation at Springhill Hospice.

The new total, which includes donations made online through the Observer’s justgiving website, is £11,177. 59p.

And of course, with the fantastic £7,500 raised at Saturday’s event at Nutters on its way, it can’t be long before we reach the £20,000 mark.

The latest donations include the £674 received from Bamford Primary School with the children’s sponsored dog walk, plus two generous cheques of £100 from Town Taxi Limited - raised at a social evening attended by the shareholders - and from Mrs Mary Needham.

We were also stunned and delighted when a couple, who wished to remain anonymous, walked in the Observer editorial office and handed over £500 in cash, plus another £90 from a man who held a collection with fellow golfers.

Donations given online have ranged from £5 to £150 and you can check the details - and make your own donation - by logging on to www.justgiving.com/rochdaleobserver 

Whether you have donating £5 or £500, our sincere thanks to every one of you because every penny counts.

And please keep the money coming in - remember, £5 equates to a minute‘s care at Springhill Hospice and it costs almost £7,000 a day to keep the facility running.

As 2008 marks 25 years of fundraising for this wonderful facility, with your help we can make this anniversary really special.
