Family pets killed by predator on the loose

A ‘PREDATORY wolf-like animal’ could be on the loose in Newhey.

The grey and white creature, thought to be a Siberian husky, which stands at a metre tall, attacked and killed two pet guinea pigs in a Bentgate Close garden.

The guinea pigs belonged to Jordan Booth, aged 10, and his sister Chloe, aged 13. They were both devastated when the dog broke into the hutch using its claws and teeth before attacking the pets.

They were found dead by Jordan and his mum, Tracey on Saturday afternoon.

Mrs Booth believes the husky could have been prowling around the village for more than a month. Around six weeks ago she spotted it attempting to break into the hutch.

Now, she is warning pet owners to be vigilant to stop any similar attacks from happening.

She said: "My children were devastated because there was absolute mayhem in the garden.

"When we came home, we saw the dog but it ran off, leaving the guinea pigs dead on the lawn. It was heartbreaking.

"The dog looks like a wolf with a long snout and piercing blue eyes. When the first incident happened, I convinced myself that it couldn’t get through to the guinea pigs, but I was wrong.

"We have spoken to the dog warden and we believe there is a Siberian husky somewhere in the area, but they won’t say where.

"I would appeal to anyone who owns a dog like this to keep it inside because next time it could attack a cat, a dog or even a baby."

A spokesman at Rochdale police station confirmed that the incident was being investigated. No other sightings or incidents have been reported.

This story is a joke, i am friends of the owner to this dog, and would like to confirm that he is not a husky, he is an akita/german shepard and he has brown eyes not piercing blue eyes. He is the friendliest dog i have ever known, i have 10 month old baby and that loves him and he is very loving to her, the owner also has two children and he is very good with them. When i read this story i was very shocked as this is totally out of character but in their deffence this is only what any other dog would do when the guinea pigs were on display in the FRONT garden not fenced off, i am surprised the owners of the guinea pigs would keep them out the front and also surprised a fox has not had them before now.

load of rubbish its fox thats what they do ask anyone who keeps chickens in pens outside or pidgeons. wolf or huskey what a joke. its a wild fox doing what comes naturally to it eating smaller animals...unless you claim it used a screwdriver to get into the hutch !! then there are a few wild annimals on the nearby estate capable of doing that.
