Fun for youngsters during summer hols

YOUNG people are being promised a fun-filled summer with holiday playschemes running throughout Rochdale.

The play sessions, organised by Rochdale and District Play Action Council (RADPAC) and funded by Rochdale Council’s children’s fund, will be taking place over the next month.

Dozens of children have already benefited from the first event this week at Belfield Primary School, where activities on offer included craft workshops, puzzles and sports.

Helen Duncan, the manager of RADPAC, said: “It gives children, regardless of ability, the opportunity to take part in play activities which will benefit and enhance their social and emotional development.”

The initiative is aimed at children aged between five and 12 years. Places are allocated on a first come, first served basis and admission is 30p per day.

The sessions will take place at the following venues between 1.30pm and 3.30pm:

Monday 28 July - Friday 1 August, Turf Hill Centre, Neston Road, Turf Hill

Monday 28 July - Friday 1 August, Moorhouse Primary School, Crossley Street, Milnrow

Monday 4 August - Friday 15 August, Ashfield Valley Primary School, New Barn Lane

Monday 4 August - Friday 15 August, Littleborough Community Primary School, Calderbrook Road

Monday 18 August - Friday 22 August, Silver Street Christian Fellowship, Edmund Street, Spotland

Monday 18 August - Friday 22 August, Rydings Special School, Great Howarth Street, Wardle.
