Yee hah, what a success

19/ 7/2008

BEES, babies and plenty of booze were all vital ingredients in this year’s annual High Crompton beer walk.

The event, which is now in its 32nd year, saw 32 teams don a fantastic array of fancy dress and raise a glass for charity.

A quintet of buzzing bees took the overall prize for best fancy dress, while the Glamorous Grannies won best female group and Bob Marley and the Whalers were crowned best men.

More than 160 people took part in what has become one of summer’s more colourful events, visiting seven pubs en-route.

The walk is organised by the Christian Men’s Fellowship and co-ordinator Roger Dennis said: "It was outstanding this year.

"How they come up with the ideas for costumes I’ll never know.

"We were hugely impressed by the effort everyone went to.

"All those involved really enjoyed themselves and we hope to have raised more than £20,000 for both local and national charities.

"We now look forward to making next year even bigger and better."
