Quarry fight fundraiser

4/ 7/2008

A FUNDRAISER will be held on Sunday (6 July) to support Ding Quarry Action Group.

The event aims to raise money to help campaigners who are against the controversial plans to reopen the quarry.

Top entertainment is promised, including performances from celebrity guests Steve Storm and top comedian Jimmy Cricket.

Dave Thomas, the chairman of the group, said: “This promises to a great event and an opportunity to continue to raise awareness of our campaign.

“There will a raffle with some sporting memorabilia and other top prizes and we will also be updating people on our campaign.

“For anyone who thinks that Ding Quarry is not going to reopen, I will tell you that it is a distinct possibility unless we work together against this set of dangerous proposals. We need your support and look forward to seeing you.”

Ding Quarry Action Group memorabilia will be available and copies of the petition can be signed. Refreshments will also be on offer.

The event will take place at St. Vincent’s church hall, on Sunday 6 July, between 1pm and 6pm. A limited number of tickets, costing £5, are still available. For more details, call 350182 or 642478.
