BALDERSTONE AND KIRKHOLT: Darren Pedley (Lab)

I AM a local family man and have lived in Balderstone and Kirkholt for many years with my partner Laura and three children.

My children attend the local comprehensive schools, namely Balderstone Technology College and Sandbrook Park Community Primary School. The latter of which I have been a Governor of for the last nine years helping to ensure that the new £7.5 Million school is up to the highest standards.

My other community involvements are:

  • Member of TRAK, our local Tenants and Residents Association.
  • Member of the Vision for Kirkholt steering group working with other members of the community to ensure that our community’s voice is heard in all the planning and development stages.
  • Member of the Friends of Balderstone Library where we continue to fight to ensure that this vital resource remains at the heart of the community in Balderstone Park.

I have also been an active member of my Trade Union USDAW (Union of Shop, Distributive and Allied Workers Union) since I was 17-years-old.

This year I hope that local people will remember the false promises and claims made by the Liberal Democrats, such as denying the imminent decision to close Balderstone Technology College, and send them a clear message on 1st May by voting for Labour.

I make no false promises or bold claims just to get your vote on 1 May.

My simple pledge is that I will always put Balderstone & Kirkholt first and not just toe the party line.
