CASTLETON: Ron Crossley (Con)

I WAS born in Blackpool but I have lived in Castleton for over 30 years, so I am fully aware of the problems encountered by residents of the ward.

I worked for Turner Brothers for many years and I also served in the Royal Navy for two and a half years as a submariner.

I am now retired and spend my time gardening, cycling and enjoy foriegn travel with my wife Cecelia.

If I am elected I will support the Conservatives proposal to give a Council Tax rebate to everyone 60 or over. People on fixed incomes are finding it difficult to manage in this time of fuel and food inflation and high Council Tax increases.

Conservatives always propose smaller Council Tax increases than the other two parties, without cutting essential services.

It has been proved that youth nuisance and crime decline if an area becomes cleaner, so I will also support the Conservative manifesto pledge to introduce an extra street sweeper to the Castleton Ward.
