The white stuff!

25/ 3/2008

SNOWFALL on Easter Sunday saw scores of people take to their sledges and skis, rather than the anticipated Easter egg hunts.

The icy blast covered Rochdale in a blanket of snow, which children and adults alike were keen to make the most of before it melted.

In Springfield Park, where our photographer caught these happy revellers, the scene was more like Christmas than Easter.

Among those found sledging and skiing was Claire Gilbert, on a visit from Melbourne, Australia, who said she’s never seen snow before and was least expecting it in Rochdale at Easter.

  • Observer photographer Tim Bradley was out and about and snapped some photos of people having fun - more of his pictures in Wednesday's Observer.
