A CYCLING and walking route through Healey Dell will be cleaned up on Saturday - and you help is needed.
Organised by the transport charity Sustrans in conjunction with the Countryside Ranger team, the day will involve cutting back overhead branches and vegetation and clearing litter and debris from the Healey Dell Greenway.
Volunteer Sustrans rangers Sue Smith and Peter Thornton, who will help look after the cycling and walking routes in the Rochdale area, are leading the operation. As well as helping with the clear-up, there’s also the opportunity to find out more about becoming a ranger and volunteering with Sustrans on a regular basis.
The Healey Dell Greenway is a popular, traffic-free path for walkers, cyclists and wheelchair users, and this is the second workday organised by the Sue, Peter and the Healey Dell team.
Sue said: “Help is always needed to keep the path attractive and tidy for people to use.”
Anyone interested in joining in should call Sue on 665607 or Richard Whittle on 350459.
Sustrans is the UK’s leading sustainable transport charity and spends £1.3M looking after the 323 miles on the National Cycle Network, which the charity owns.
