Publican held at knifepoint

A LANDLADY was threatened at knifepoint during a raid at a Cutgate pub.

The owner was attacked by three men who barged into the Star Inn, at about 12.30am on Tuesday.

They held a blade to her back before forcing her upstairs into her office, where she was forced to hand over a substantial amount of cash.

They then snatched more cash from the bar before making their escape.

Detective Constable Nick Price, of Rochdale CID, said: "This landlady had gone outside the pub with her dog before she was put through a needless and terrifying experience.

"The robbers deliberately targeted this pub after closing time and were determined to escape with as much cash as possible.

"I would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time, or who may have seen any people or vehicles at the back of the pub around the time of the robbery to contact police."

One of the robbers was white, slim build and between 5ft 7ins and 10ins tall.

He had black eyelashes and was wearing a dark baseball cap with a white rim, a blue wrinkled jacket, with a zip at the front, and blue tracksuit bottoms and dark trainers.

He was wearing a black neck warmer, which was pulled up over his nose. One of the other men was of stocky build and shorter than the first man described.
