£1M drugs farm uncovered

A £1M CANNABIS farm was discovered as police swooped on an industrial unit in Hamer.

Described as one of the biggest drugs farms ever found in Rochdale, over 1,000 cannabis plants were seized during the raid at Bishop Street on Thursday morning.

Officers also found a range of electrical equipment including lightning and ventilation systems.

Three cars next to the unit were seized during the operation, which was carried out by officers from the Pennines division.

Two men, aged 35 and 50, have been arrested on suspicion of cultivating the class C drug.

Superintendent Bryan Lawton said: “This seems to be a sophisticated production line. Officers found 1,000 plants at the scene and other plants in the early stages of production.

“This is one of the largest operations uncovered in Rochdale. The raid sends out a clear message.

“We will take positive action if we are informed of this kind of criminal activity.”

He urged anyone with information about drug crime to ring Crimestoppers, for free and in confidence, on 0800 555111.

   information like this should be on page one not page 5 so that the scum involved in this business get the message that the police are getting a grip on them and they should be watching their backs.why does a story about someone having 11 children (and probably draining benefits) take priority over a £1m drugs raid!!!
