A PROUD mother has spoken of her joy after her poorly baby was allowed home from hospital.
Ella Chadwick, who needs a kidney transplant because she has a rare life-threatening condition, has been treated on dialysis in Rochdale Infirmary since November.
She has been allowed home for a few hours each day and spent some time over Christmas with her family.
But now four-month-old Ella, who has congenital nephrotic syndrome, only has to attend the hospital for daily infusions.
And eventually her mother Karen will be able to administer her treatment from their home in Platting Lane, Balderstone.
Miss Hughes, who used to stay over at the hospital with her daughter, said: "Her infusions used to start at midnight but gradually they have been put back to the afternoon so that she only has to attend for four hours each day.
"It is great to stay in my own bed and Ella stays in her moses basket in the same room.
"She is such a strong baby and she is eating well.
"She is loving being at home and we are thrilled that she has come home from hospital."
Ella will have one kidney removed when she is six or seven months old and it is expected she will have a kidney transplant when she is two.
