CONTRACTS for the first company to move into the new Kingsway Business Park were exchanged with developers Wilson Bowden on Thursday.
Vindon Scientific, an Oldham-based supplier of environmental testing chambers, has signed on the dotted line and will open a 29,480 sq ft unit.
The plot is the first industrial plot to be developed at Kingsway and will be situated alongside four more units ready for occupation between March and June 2008.
Patrick Jackson, of Vindon Scientific said: “We are very encouraged by the prospect of this new storage and manufacturing facility.
“It will provide the platform for us to pursue our strategy and growth, whilst enabling us to continue to grow our existing client base.”
The move comes just a fortnight after the new spine road into the park, located at junction 21 of the M62 motorway, was officially opened.
Jane Dobie, development manager for Wilson Bowden Developments said: “It’s gratifying to play a part in the growth of a local company like Vindon.
“The level of interest in the remaining units on Plot E remains strong and we hope to find new neighbours for our first occupier shortly.
“This early commitment to Kingsway from the local business sector underlines the strategic importance of the site to the local economy.
“Businesses based here can take advantage of the strong labour pool in the Rochdale area and the free service provided by the Kingsway recruitment team.
“The package of benefits on offer to Kingsway occupiers rivals that of any of its competitors throughout the UK.”

Got an opinion you want to share?
If the company is Oldham based the net increase of local jobs is ZERO.
And the nonsense about local construction jobs won't wear either unless you include those people who are paid to fabricate and spin "good news" stories about this fiasco.
Rochdale Council are up to their necks in this mess. This has all the appearance of deck chair rearranging on the Titanic. It is time they become much more accountable with OUR money.
