Agyness after a model prize

LITTLEBOROUGH-born supermodel Agyness Deyn has been nominated for Model of the Year at this year’s British Fashion Awards.

Organised by the British Fashion Council and supported by Swarovski, the event celebrates emerging and established talent within the British fashion industry.

It recognises brands, designers and figures that have made a significant contribution to British fashion over the past year.

The awards, held in London on Tuesday, will be judged by a committee of top fashion media, retailers and influencers and chaired by the British Vogue editor Alexandra Shulman.

Previous winners include Kate Moss, who picked up the title last year and in 2001.

Also nominated for the award are Lily Cole and Irina Lazareanu, the former girlfriend of Babyshambles singer Pete Doherty.

Miss Deyn – the face of Armani, Burberry, Paul Smith, Galliano and Vivienne Westwood – is fast becoming an icon.

Spotted by a photographer three years ago as she walked along Kentish Town Old Road in north London, the former chip shop worker now lives in New York where her agency DNA Models is based.
