Police swoop on drug dealing ring

Bethan Dorsett
23/11/2007

POLICE investigating a class A drugs ring have swooped on homes across the borough.

The two-day Operation Bluebeard saw warrants executed at over 20 addresses, and 100 mobile phones were recovered as well as small quantities of cannabis and heroin.

Officers searching the addresses also seized two cars.

A total of 23 people, including a 15-year-old girl, arrested on suspicion of drugs offences during the two strike days have now been charged.

Leading the operation was Detective Chief Inspector Jeff McMahon, who said: "I am really pleased with today's result, and I hope that it sends a clear message to those intent on plaguing their communities with drug abuse and criminal behaviour that we will not tolerate this.”

Excellent news to see our Police Department making progress in trying to rid the streets of these predators and parasites we call Drug Dealers. As a member of Wardleworth For All, we should do our best to assist the police in alerting them with any strange activities, behaviour & of any known dealers on the streets where our children play - in the hope of a better future for communities as a whole. It's great news to see these results as it gives all of us hope and have faith in the system, and it also makes us more confident in the knowledge that every little information the police receive from us worried parents helps in every way, and we should not be scared in coming forward in giving information to get rid of this disease called drug dealers....well done GMP and the communities involved.
