Duo avoided court date

14/11/2007

AFTER an investigation into the original Lesley Molseed murder inquiry two men were charged with perverting the course of justice in 1994.

Former West Yorkshire police Superintendent Dick Holland and Ronald Outteridge, a forensic scientist, were accused of suppressing the results of a scientific test.

The test would have proved that Stefan Kiszko was innocent.

But after a two-day hearing at Rochdale Magistrates’ Court in April 1995 stipendary magistrate Miss Jane Hayward ruled that they would not get a fair trial.

She based her decision on the length of time since Stefan’s trial, the death of a number of witnesses and people who took part in the trial and the loss of a number of documents vital to the trial.

Lesley’s family were stunned by the verdict.

Her father, Fred Anderson, said: “Whatever happens there has been neglect on someone’s part.

“We were apprehensive when we went to court. The whole family has gone to pieces over this latest turn of events.”

After taking advice from independent prosecuting counsel the Crown Prosecuting Service decided not to seek a judicial review.
