Bike boy hurt in accident

A BOY is seriously ill in hospital after he was knocked off his bike in Milnrow.
He had been riding along Newhey Road at about 7am on Friday when he was in collision with a blue Vauxhall Vectra being driven by a 35-year-old man.
As he was rushed to Rochdale Infirmary, police shut off the street at its junction with Elizabethan Way and advised drivers to avoid Milnrow.
The boy was in a serious condition but no-one else was injured.
Witnesses are asked to call traffic police on 0161 856 8473.
