Walkers badly injured after collision with car

28/ 8/2007

TWO women were seriously injured and a dog was killed in a collision with a car on Saturday afternoon.

One woman was catapulted into the air and landed upside down in a tree.

The other was thrown into some bushes and was found wedged through a wire fence.

The incident happened at about 3.45pm.

A BMW was being driven by a 19-year-old man along Bolton Road.

As he attempted to turn right into Matthew Moss Lane the driver appeared to lose control and the car collided with the dog-walkers, who were on the pavement, before landing on its roof.

A 26-year-old woman suffered multiple injuries, including a severe cut to her head and a fractured right femur. The cut required plastic surgery

Her 24-year-old companion suffered a fractured left leg and right shoulder.

Both were taken to Fairfield General Hospital, where their condition is described as ‘stable.’

The dog died at the scene

A 19-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident.

The problem is he could not drive in control. Who passed him and gave him a licence?

He should have an automatic band for a period then retested if he has hurt someone. If he punched them in the face more would happen!!
