Celebrations at Falinge

There was an air of celebration at Falinge Park High School. Crowning a wonderful year was the news that the Shawclough school had beaten DfES targets at Key Stage 3 to such an extent that they were in the top 25 per cent of schools nationally for English, mathematics and science.
In addition, the school celebrated its fourth successive rise in GCSE grades at five+ A*-C breaking through the 50 per cent barrier comfortably with remarks still to come. Even more importantly Falinge Park's English and mathematics results were so impressive that they expect to be placed in this year's League Tables. Headteacher, Robin Lonsdale commented: "Employers, colleges and ultimately society needs people who are skilled in literacy and numeracy. At last, education performance measures are reflecting this. I could not be happier for the school. We have almost doubled GCSE results in the last few years. It is a credit to the team that came here, staff, students and of course our families. I welcome anybody who would like a guided tour during the working day. They can see for themselves the Falinge Factor."
The school's AS levels for Year 10s and 11s have been very successful with very high pass rates likely to be around 90 per cent, including elusive 'A' grades. This early entry strategy was designed to stretch the most able. "Falinge is rarely out of the news and the excitement about a proposed new building and the fantastic examination results is evident as you walk the corridors" added Glynis Foster, chair of governors.
