I really do not see this being useful. For a kick off, as Jo said, this will be just more unnecessary deaths. Cars will be abbandoned on the track halting services, when the local yobs destroy the ticket machines there are no conductors on the trams so everyone will face a fine. The electric catenary used to supply power to the trams will soon be ripped down also halting the service. However i feel that evey one is blinded by the metro (yeah it will be great, it will bring people in to Rochdale). Well i am sorry but that will not happen, people have enough access to the town as it is and still dont shop here, all the trams will do is make it easier for people to leave here to shop in manchester! On top of all that the Metrolink is far more expensive to travel on than the railway is and it takes longer to get from A to B.

We need to wake up and smell the coffee

We definitely need it if Rochdale is to progress as a town, other wise it will become a lost little village.

pain and simple do we need it ? we have enough accidents and sorrow on the roads as it is - it will just be a case of more deaths - its just a new way for accidents and suicides - if you ask my honest opinion -do we need it and can we afford it!!!!!!!!!!
