The fight to halt windfarms goes on

Diane Leach
23/ 8/2008

A DATE has been set for the planning appeal for two windfarms above Shawforth and Bacup.

The plans by Coronation Power to site turbines on Reaps Moss, which were refused by Rossendale councillors last November, will be determined in a appeal starting on 17 February next year.

I don't think windfarms are an eyesore; I'd rather see a windfarm than a quarry or a mine, anyday of the week!

These guys need to take a walk up Scoutmoor and see how wonderful these things are. I went up there again today and it was great. I had to get within 50 yards before I could hear the gentle swish of the blades, also standing beneath them, the speed of the blades was just awesome. Free juice for all. Then the added benefit. What is it I hear..... There were so many people up there. People of all shapes and sizes, walking up Scoutmoor and around the turbines. People of a larger size who needed exercise were getting ummm exercise instead of watching tv and using energy. There are so many benfits these things have to go up, the councillors will be failing us.

I'd rather be faced with a minor eyesore such as a wind farm, than the lifeless toxic wasteland that either a major nuclear disaster, or continued use of fossil fuels could create.

Nimby's. Why are they always old. Lets face it, we are in this mess because of the wasteful nature of old people back in the 50's, 60's and 70's. Now they are getting in the way of positive change which will start to repair the damage they have done, yet having caused the problem they now want to stop the younger generation from fixing their mistakes. The irony is that they will have passed away when the real problems arrive with climate change and fuel sortages and we will still be here suffering their ill's.
