Highway robbery
Alice McKeegan21/ 6/2008
SOARING fuel prices are being blamed for a dramatic increase in the number of drive-offs at petrol stations.
A senior police officer has confirmed that thieves are stealing number plates from unsuspecting motorists and fitting them to their own cars to avoid paying for petrol.
Criminals are also profiteering from rising prices and selling stolen petrol for between £15 and £20 a canister.
last week i went to m.e.n arena to see a show. at the bar the cost of a pint of beer was 3.50 pounds no one complained no one walked away with out paying. some of the pubs here charge 2-2.75 pounds for a PINT not a litre. & yes you pay tax on this. i don't agree with the price rise on anything that has a lot of tax taken out just so two jags can keep them on the road. the only way to stop all this taxing is DON'T VOTE FOR ANY M.Ps because all of them are getting paid 24/7 & when they go to the house they get duty free beer food. & we pay for that. one more thing anybody who works DO YOU GET PAID TO FALL ASLEEP ON A BACK BENCH?

Mandy, don't forget as the price of fuel increases because of the oil price, the government get even more money in the VAT we have to pay at the pump.

Soaring fuel costs is to blame for drive offs........... what stupid analogy.
It does not matter how expensive fuel is, does not give anybody the right to drive off without paying!
Increase the sentences of these theives that will soon stop it!

79.8% of every litre you buy is tax. we have the cheapest fuel in Europe until this Government puts its double tax on it.

There is an easy way to stop this. (Seen it in the USA). The motorist must prepay at the counter. He pays say 70 quid and the pump is set to £70 and stops pumping when this is gone.
