Hornets go on the record
Mike Floyd18/ 4/2008
ROCHDALE Hornets have been making and breaking records for many years, but few records can compare with the one that has arrived in the Observer office this week.
Full story and audio here ...
I have been a Rochdale Hornets fan for many years (1947 - 1992)emigrating to Thailand in 1992. I clearly remember my good friend Peter Robinson bringing this record "Hornets Hornets" to the Athletic Grounds one match day but unfortunately I cannot remember the year.
This was the same Peter Robinson who went to live in New Zealand for several years, returning to set up the Indoor Cricket Centre in a building once owned by Turner Bros. the asbestos company.
Unfortunately Peter contracted a deadly form of cancer from the building and died sometime in the 1990's

Hornets went on record about 1967, but I can't remember the exact year. I went with the team on the coach and was singing with them on the record. I still have my copy. I went with Alan Hindle, his daughter and all the team to the recording studio. At the time we thought it was brilliant, although I was quite young then. Maybe the Hornets team now need to get someone to re-write a new version with the Bobster in charge.

'dusty'? Shame on you Graham! (Only joking).
I was around at the time and have never heard of this record. They should play it in the dressing room before games!
@Lancashire Lad. What a mean-spirited post. Have you not heard of Hornets equal shares in Spotland Stadium? Hornets in liquidation? Where did you get that from? Shame on you

Will Hornets go on the record about-
what has happened to all the money from the sale of its site to Morrisons back in the 1990's?
what happened to the cash loan for £50,000 organised by Rochdale Council when Allen Brett was in power and heading the stadium company?
why they are now in liquidation after a history of being fined for not submitting up to date accounts to companies house?
Our money - wasted by people like Allen Brett, not only then Leader of the Council who sat on planning and regulatory committees AND a director of the rochdale development agency, but also traded as a 'no-win no-fee' planning and leisure consultant.
Lets have all this on the record. It would be an LP !
