Muslim leader slams police
Faye Adams28/ 3/2008
A MUSLIM leader appeared on the hard-hitting BBC programme 'Panorama' on Thursday night.
Mohammed Shafiq, director of the Rochdale-based Ramadhan Foundation, is heard slamming police for failing to deal with Asian gangs who force young white girls into prostitution.
Mr Shafiq claims that officers are differentiating between criminals on the basis of race.
Hi,
I recently applied for an information pack on a new estate which is being built in Rochdale by Barrat homes. I applied for an information pack as the accomodation looked to be suited to first time buyers in the local area. I applied for the information online and a few days later recieved an information pack in the post and an email. The email stated that the development is a new developmentsolely for the asian community in rochdale, however they sent me information for other developments in the county. It just seems like another blow to the working white man trying to get on.
I am not a racist man but things like this are going to do nothing to help the community build relations?!!

we live in a stupid world where nursery rhymes are changed because "black sheep" is seen as racist by idiotic political correctness.
Criminals are criminals no matter where they come from or were born and raised.
I do agree that this type of debate causes more grief.
In a world where various minority cultures complain, debate and demonstrate about racial equality, we still have groups like the "black police association", "asian business awards", "women in business", etc.
If there were a "white police association" or a white business awards" or a "men in business society" there would soon be a fuss kicked up.
For those wanting equality, why segregate themselves with these associations?

Mr Shafiq should let the Police do there job and stop interfering they are not going to discuss policing operations with him anyway. This is a sensitive issue and one that is dear to many hearts people like Mr Shafiq should let the professionals deal with it instead of interfering on things he knows little or nothing about. the Panorama programme was exceptionally good and heighlighted things for parents etc to look out for and yes more needs to be done it needs to be top priority in the Policing plan. I cannot understand why Mr Shafiq was babbling on about the BNP for as the programme highlighted this was happening in all sections.

I cannot help but be suspicious of Mr Shafiq showboating on this terrible issue.
It looks like a classic damage limitation excersise on behalf of one sick section of the community.
For a young asian man to be critical of what other young asian men are doing by targetting vulnerable young girls doesn't solve the problem.
It does however get him in the address book of BBC journalists. Rentaquote from a hip young muslim.
Almost as exploitative as what those sick men are doing to those young girls.

Although this is in no-way a religious issue, as a "Muslim Leader" and a "Media Spokesman" on this issue, Mohammed Shafiq is better placed than anyone else, to inform the small percentage of offenders that do happen to be muslim, such practices with "slave girls" are totally outlawed under Islam and Sharia.

"Muslim Leader ???" he isnt no leader and who does he speak for as the young lads who drive around or "groom" girls into prositution are lads born and bred in Rochdale or whatevber area why "Asian" the furthest east most have been is Leeds. Its irresponsible headlines like this that promotes trouble. Who is he to say the Police are wrong ?? what work has he ever done its just him getting the limelight, he aint no leader that I follow and who are his followers if he is a leader ?? none that I know
