Green scheme hit by freak weather

Bethan Dorsett

IT was the day the town turned green.

But the switch to alternate weekly collections did not go without a hitch for some neighbourhoods.

This department is totally unbelievable! My big green bin was put out on the last day before the new system....it wasn't emptied along with six others on my row of houses. But the opposite side of the street was collected?!! I complained to the refuse department and they said they had to do an investigation....well I will tell you what it is before you waste any money paid by me...a tax payer...YOU COULD NOT CROSS THE ROAD TO EMPTY THE BINS BECAUSE YOU WHERE TO LAZY!!!

We left our bin and bag on the driveway against the house so that the wind didn't blow either into the street. Guess what, the bin and bag were still there, unemptied, when we got back from work.

I'm wondering if they were 3 metres too far from arms reach to be emptied. I can't quite believe how little the collectors are willing to do in order to carry out and meet the towns recycling targets.

Maybe I should have left the contents to Mother Natures whims in an effort to get the rubbish collected!
