Docs failed us
Damon Wilkinson24/12/2007
A PREGNANT woman had to undergo life-saving surgery after twice being sent home from Rochdale Infirmary by doctors.
Leanne Lincoln was convinced her pregnancy had developed complications but it was only when she collapsed as she tried to walk out of the hospital for the second time that doctors realised their mistake.
She was rushed into surgery where staff, who had failed to diagnose she was undergoing an ectopic pregnancy, battled to stem massive internal bleeding.
This is another case of the lack of resources. When I had my 1st child I was put onto an antenatal ward because Royal Oldhams maternity unit had to close due to a lack of staff and now there closing the rochdale unit down knowing the surrounding hospitals won't be able to cope with the increase in patients and as this story shows they are already struggling with the rochdale unit still open. this is a very sad story especially a this poor women had to deal with the fact of losing her unborn child and her own life was in danger due to the NHS who are well and truly collapsing under pressure its a disgrace. I would like to also express my concerns about the comments made by anglosaxon from norden I believe your comments very harsh and unfair and this family has a right to complain and express there views after such a horrific ordeal and was wondering how you would feel if this happened to a member of your family. Good Luck to the family for 2008

If there was more of a service, eg. more nurses, beds for the patients to be treated on, if the government hadn't taken them away, then this would not have happened, SACK ALAN JOHNSON

Not a question of whinging. The NHS is funded by compulsory insurance such as National Insurance contributions and other state taxes.
You pay your dues, are entitled to a good product or service.

I hope they sue the NHS for all the truama thay have benn put through. The fact is the NHS sees Rochdale as a "has been" little commercial clout, passive local and Westminster/Europian politicians etc. When a third of kids have no dentistry insurance under the NHS and 20 times as many parents cannot afford the "plan" that private dentists are offering. It is time for the people to rebel, just like like the Rochdale Pioneers. Enough is enough.
