Pressure builds in battle for Ding

MOMENTUM is growing in the new fight against a controversial quarry plan. Outraged residents, councillors and campaigners have added their voices to the movement against a bid to work Ding Quarry.

   If, in their infinite wisdom, a previous Government hadn't closed the railway line between Rochdale and Bacup, Ding quarry could have been reopened and its contents transported to any destination in Europe BY RAIL! The quarry company could have built a railhead and hardly anybody would notice the stuff being moved. A lot better for the environment than convoys of HGV tipper trucks!
