Taking youth culture higher

Lisa Salmon

INTRODUCING kids to culture could be one way to cut down on anti-social behaviour.

It's a viewpoint that even has royal backing, discovers Lisa Salmon.

Hilarious. The Prince Of Wales with yet another well-meaning but totally misguided and naive idea. More proof (not that its needed) that he is scarily out of touch. What an idiot.

Perhaps this scheme aimns to target children who are younger than those who are out and about on the streets, Ollie?

Either way, thank you for your perspective on this.

I don't want to sound like I'm against this, but "INTRODUCING kids to culture could be one way to cut down on anti-social behaviour" I couldn't disagree more. Youth Culture plays a big part in everyone's lives now, and all across the world, Youths are divided into groups, and sub-groups. Some adults understand this, and others don't. What annoys me, are the ones that don't. For example, there are 2 typical stereotypical groups, the Chav, and the Mosher. Chavs usually hang around the town, smoking, drinking, and wearing stupid clothing. Now, I personally am not a chav, and I hate them... they think they own the whole place, and are always looking to start fights. Me and my friends like to wear hoodies, have lots of respect for our elders, and the younger people than us. The problem is, we like to wear hoodies, and thanks to the anti-social area of Macclesfield, Hoodies are generally stereotyped for kids that are up to no good. What I want everyone to understand is - Every youth is different. If you see a group of people in town, and they are smoking, shouting insults, then yes, by all means, they are bad. But if you see a group of kids with skateboards, just trying to stay out of fights, and have fun, ignore them. We need everyone to know what's what, with youths. Now, the "bad" kids of macclesfield, will in no way be interested in museums, etc... it's not their thing, they'd rather be out drinking, at clubs and things. I say to eliminate anti social behaviour around Macc, impose rules about clothing, drinking limits, you know, things that affect how people are judged. I think I've rambled on enough now, and I hope you all understand what I'm on about. hehe.
