Bye Bye Johnny to rock at V Festival

8/ 7/2008

ROCHDALE punks Bye Bye Johnny will have their sound heard by thousands at one this summer’s major UK festivals.

The local lads have been picked by a world class music producer to play this year’s V Festival in Stafford.

Bye Bye Johnny will be putting a new spin on the Strongbow Stage, traditionally known for its live DJs and electronica. The band have been booked to bring a punk-rock edge.

Invited to play by Will Jameson, the man behind legendary Liverpool club night Chibuku who is also responsible for setting up Malawi's first international music festival, Lake of Stars.

Will has now turned his attentions back to the UK securing talent for the summer’s biggest festivals and selected Bye Bye Johnny to play alongside music giants Muse, Prodigy and Kings of Leon at this year’s V.

Bye Bye Johnny are thrilled to have been chosen to play their first festival and are hoping to brush shoulders with some big names, making their mark on the music scene.

Guitarist Dean Hulse said: "It’s good that we’ve being recognised for our music that’s the most satisfying part. We’ve got a couple of new songs that we’re thinking of playing and we’re staying in the artists’ area all weekend so we’ll be able to take in the other bands before we play on Sunday. It’s the first time we’ll be playing in an outdoor tent so we’re really excited. We’re going to have a few beers before we go on stage and just chill out. We’ve had a pretty good response on our Facebook and Myspace sites and we’ve got a lot of people coming down so we know there’ll be a big crowd."

Bye Bye Johnny will be play the Strongbow Stage on Sunday 17 August from 1.30pm at V’s Weston Park Stafford site.
