REVIEW: Sound Stripe @ Tiger Lounge, Manchester

Katie Storey
15/ 5/2008

SOUND STRIPE stepped back in time and mixed it up at the Tiger Lounge.

The chilled out rockers, who don't take themselves too seriously quietly took to the stage, before blowing Tiger Lounge residents away when they burst into their first song.

Sound ricocheted off every brick hidden beneath the seventies printed wall paper with the bands quirky stage presence and infectious tunes immediately winning over the small audience.

The band incorporate dramatic drumming, funky bass lines and electric guitar riffs, with lead singer, Paul Wright's chalky vocals rising to high pitched screeches.

Keeping everyone on their toes Sound Stripe stopped, started, sped it up and slowed it down leaving the audience craving for more.

It was clear to see where they had taken their influences from, incorporating all the best parts from the White Stripes, Fratellis, Futureheads and Arctic Monkeys and producing something fast, furious and completely surprising.

Sound Stripe are a fresh garage-rock-indie band who can't fail to make an impact.
