Rockers lend bands a hand

RISING indie rockers, One Night Only, are launching a hunt for a local unsigned band to open their gig at the Manchester Academy.

This could be a chance for an undiscovered band from Rochdale to unleash its talent on hundreds of fans and get its big break.

Not only will the winning band open the gig at the renowned venue, it will also be in with a chance to record a professional demo at Vertigo Records in London.

The Yorkshire five-piece has launched the search for the next generation of musical talent in connection with its new nationwide tour.

Every gig across the country will be opened by a new and unique unsigned band with One Night Only picking its favourite at the end of the tour for the extra prize of recording at Vertigo Records.

One Night Only will be performing material from its debut album, Started a Fire, including breakthrough single, Just For Tonight.

Lead singer George Craig said: “We were one of the lucky bands who ended up in the recording studio. here are thousands out there who are good enough to make it, but don’t get the chance.

“I think it’s going to be really surreal for the band that wins to go out and play in front of a packed audience. ’m sure they’ll get a good reception from the One Night Only fans, they’re all really supportive especially here in Manchester.”

The gig will be taking place at the Manchester Academy 2 on 13 May with an online vote to find the future rockstars starting on 21 April.
