The Iron Waters

4/ 4/2008

THE Iron Waters are an indie-funk band with soul, combining upbeat melodies with down to earth lyrics.

The band are named after a Syke hot spot, notorious for its underground summer scene.

Band members include: Steven Lee Roche, lead vocals, Scott Lord, lead guitar, Peter Gilchrist, bass guitar and backing vocals, Danny Gilchrist, Keyboards, Dave Madge, Drums, Chanel Hulme, backing vocals and Bob Fell, saxophone.

The Iron Waters boast that they have a unique and instantly recognisable sound, with influences stretching across genres including everything from Happy House to Bob Dylan.

They have been working hard over the last six months to comprise a set list in preparation for their first gig; and have already recorded ten tracks at the HQ studios in Strangeways Manchester.

Although, this band are more at home creating musical fusion with traditional African drums and saxophone solos than harmonicas and tin cans.

Hi everyone, My name is James Statham (manager of The Iron Waters), I would just like to take this opportunity to thank our fans for the hundred plus emails of support regarding the running of this competition. It is appreciated by myself and the band, that the series of events over the weekend have not gone unrecognized. I take nothing away from initial integrity of the competition or the other bands involved as I am also a fan of their work and enjoy their live shows. Congratulations to The Shameless and commiserations to The Brightsparks, It appears to have been a close race.

Although tempted, I am not going to use this platform to demonstrate my exact views nor publicise the exact conduct of a particular party involved. I will however take this opportunity to inform you that on Sunday the 11th of May, we are headlining and closing the Rochdale bear festival. Guaranteed twisted Mayhem! and the music should be pretty good to!! Come and sample the best of the Dale with added ale. A weekend of live music from two stages at the Flying Horse and Mystique. It’s our first gig at home in the Dale and we'll be treating you to our coolest set yet’ juggling a collaboration with the endlessly talented DJ Tig to ensure non-stop entertainment! So get your dancing shoes on and open up your listeners, its going to be a bumpy ride!

PS Don't be shy, mines a JD easy on the ice!
