JOON liken themselves to a modern-day version of Queen and have taken other influences from Bad Company and Journey.
Band members include Olly Kraweckyj (lead vocals and synths), John Clapper (guitar and backing vocals), Nic Southwood (bass and backing vocals) and Alex Lacey (drums).
The band were formed two years ago and have been fitting in rehersals and gigs around Manchester in between their university lectures.
Their gruelling six-hour rehearsal sessions have paid off landing them with a resident's slot at the Hard Rock Cafe in Manchester.
They describe thier sound as very big and elaborate with complex harmonies and energetic performances.
Their most embarassing moment so far has been starting a gig in Rochdale without band member, Nic Southwood, as he was still firmly fixed to the loo.
