    <p>Opening the show were the dark and intriguing sounds of Shadow Riots led by the intense vocals of Kirsty Stones. Demanding attention, the band pulled in the crowd and set the standard for the rest of the show, proving that a female singer can front a band as well as any of the guys.

<description><![CDATA[ <p>THE Rochdale Observer has teamed up with XFM’s Clint Boon and Happy Mondays tour DJ Dave Sweetmore to pick the best local bands to play at Roch Revolution Live, our live August showcase. 
    </p>
    <p>Having close ties with the town after attending arts college in Rochdale, former Inspiral Carpets keyboardist Clint was thrilled to hear about the rise of the New Roch Revolution and impressed by the amount of up-and-coming local talent itching to take part.

<description><![CDATA[ <p>HEAVY metal band Fight Another Day were crowned winners of the first heat of the Back Door Music Project's Battle of the Bands contest.</p>
    <p>The four contenders took their places on the stage on Friday night to fight it out in the first round of the youth rock contest.
