Rochdale Expats

ARE you a former resident of Rochdale who has moved abroad and who wants to get back in touch with people still living in the town? Do you know of friends or family who have moved overseas and you want to try and track them down? Well here's your chance ...

In this section, we're giving an opportunity for people who were parted when locals decided to make new lives overseas to make contact once again.

If you are an ex-pat, who wants to know the whereabouts of a pal or relative, send us the details and we'll post them up here. The same is true of locals - let us know if you want to get back in touch with a local who has left these shores. You never know - they might just visit this site, read your message and you could be reunited.

Alternatively, ex-pats can write to us simply if they want to let the folks back home know what they've been up to, how life overseas is treating them, and what they miss about Rochdale.

All you have to do to take advantage of this service is to write to us, making sure you include your name, contact details, e-mail address and current whereabouts, and we'll post the messages up on this section.

Rainy Rochdale seems a lifetime ago but I remember some very good people (and bad ones) when I came down from Scotland in 1963 to work in engineering. I now hear that Whipp & Bourne is closing in Castleton and the Carlton has been demolished. What a great shame. That said, I hope they have demolished the Hostel on Castlemere Street and that certain evil people will meet their maker before burning in hell. 45 years ago but some memories do not fade. Anyway, became a £10 Pomme, married my beautiful Dee (now passed away) but blessed with wonderful grandchildren. Am planning a trip to the Mother Country in early 2009 might make a detour to Rochdale.
