Agnes Ellison

MRS Agnes Ellison (nee Kirtlan) of Dill Hall Lane, Church, has died aged 93 in the Royal Blackburn Hospital.

Born in Blackburn, she moved to Clayton-le-Moors when she married her husband, the late James (Jim), and then moved to Dill Hall Lane, where the couple lived for 56 years.

A weaver, she worked at Royal Mill, Blackburn, before moving to Royal Mill, Clayton, when she married. She then worked for her brother for over 20 years at Kirtlan’s wallpaper shop in King Street, Blackburn.

A member of Clayton-le-Moors Mothers’ Club and Enfield Cricket Club, she was a devoted family woman who got great pleasure from knitting, making numerous blankets for various charities. She had an open house policy, always welcoming people into her home.

She leaves a daughter Susan, son-in-law John, grandson Neil and his wife Lucy.

Mrs Ellison was cremated at Accrington yesterday (Thursday) following a service conducted by the Rev Yvonne Pearson.
