Herbert Tranter

KEEN cricketer Mr Herbert Tranter, of Tunstead Road, Stacksteads, died peacefully at Fairfield Hospital, Bury, on Monday, aged 96.

Mr Tranter, known as Bert, worked all his life at Forest Mill as a mule spinner overlooker. He also had connections with the Church of England.

Husband of the late Audrey, he leaves daughter Myrna, grandchildren Lyndon and Sarah and great-grandchildren Danielle and Lauren.

His funeral will be next Wednesday when the Rev Al Hodge will conduct a service at the chapel of rest at 10.30am followed by cremation at Burnley Crematorium at 11.20am.
